27th Aug 2009 FISHING DARWIN HARBOUR Darwin Harbour is one of Australia's largest natural Harbours.  It is picturesque with a superb reef network and many WWII and cyclone wrecks. Darwin Harbour can have tidal movement of up to 7.5m As a general rule, small movement allows best reef and wreck fishing while larger movement is more favourable to estuary fishing MAIN HARBOUR: As mentioned, there are an abundance of reefs and wrecks in the Harbour and other structures that have been sunk including shipping containers.  Baitfish congregate near the wrecks and reefs, attracting snapper, jewfish, cod and more.  Positioning right over the wreck is critical to catch fish.  All the wrecks are marked on the GPS onboard. CHARLES POINT PATCHES:  Most of the 1/2 day fishing charters visit this popular fishing spot.  It is located approximately 20nm from our main launch site at Dinah Beach.  It is well known for it's abundance of jewfish and snapper.  It is best visited on a neap set of tides EAST ARM: Is a mangrove lined and offers good flat and rockbar fishing.  The tidal creeks are home to barramundi, snapper, queenfish and more.  The Catalina wrecks hold jewfish and snapper.  The East Arm boat ramp is easily accessible from Darwin and has a floating pontoon. MIDDLE ARM: Is the largest of Darwin Harbour arms.  It is best known for Town Hall Hole - a deep hole that holds snapper and jewfish.  There are also shallow reefs and rockbars that are good for golden snapper.  Channel Island is at the mouth of Middle Arm.   It is accessible by Middle Arm, Southport and Channel Island Boat Ramps. 23rd Aug 2009 CRAB CLAW ISLAND & BYNOE HARBOUR Our Kimberley and Runabout vessels are now avalable for hire for Crab Claw Island which is located on the picturesque Bynoe harbour where the fishing is great all year round. Bynoe Harbour is a magnificant mangrove lined harbour with tidal creeks, sandy flats and rockbars.  In a single days fishing you can encounter an array of fish including jewfish, travelly, barramundi, golden snapper, mackerel and mud crabs. At Crab Claw Island Resort there are Cabins in the treetops and camping available basically right on the beach.  There is an excellent restaurant, bar and pool. We can Deliver any of our hire boats to Crab Claw Island or you can trailer them yourself (4WD recommended).  Crab Claw Island is approximately 130km from Darwin on a combination of sealed and unsealed roads. www.crabclawisland.com.au

23rd Aug 2009 ADELAIDE RIVER & GOAT ISLAND The Adelaide River Bridge is located approximately 70km from Darwin, this is the launch site for the upper reaches of the Adelaide River.  Delivery of the boat to the ramp is available upon request.  The Adelaide River is the closest big river to Darwin.  The feeder creeks fish well for barramundi during the wet season when the river levels are dropping.  During the dry the upper reaches, beyond Goat Island, fish well and are an attractive area of overhanging trees. Goat Island Lodge, which includes a bar and accommodation, is located 22km upstream of the boat ramp.  It makes the ideal secluded base for a few days barramundi fishing in the far reaches of the Adelaide River. 30th Jul 2009 CORROBOREE BILLABONG Looking for a great day out or wondering where to take visiting family or friends?  Corroboree billabong is a great place to visit.  It is one of the Top Ends most picturesque locations and just over an hours drive from Darwin, off the Arnhem Highway (30km of gravel road).  It offers up to 20km of linked waterways with cuttings to Rock Hole Billabong accessible when water levels are high.  Corroboree is an easy place to fish with no tidal movements and little risk of sandbars or rockbars. Corroborre Billabong offers something for everyone, whether it be wildlife watching or fishing.  On any given day out you are likely to see an abundance of birds, reptiles, water lillies and of course a croc or two, wild buffalo even venture to the waters edge.  If fishing is what you are there for you shouldn't be disappointed.  The barramundi come on the bite as the waters warm up and the water levels drop - August onwards.  Other species also caught include saratoga, tarpon and sleepy cod.  This place should not be missed. 10th Jun 2009 SHADY CAMP Our Runabout is available for hire at Shady Camp - please note that PEAK RATES APPLY for all hires to Shady Camp.  Minimum hire of two days also applies. Shady Camp is located approximately 160km from Darwin.  There is approximately 40km of unsealed road which can be heavily corrugated and very slippery.  It gets very busy on weekends during the run-off.   Shady Camp is part of the Mary River system, there is both saltwater and fresh water fishing for barramundi.  Add 4.5 hours to Darwin tide times for the barrage - launching and retrieving is only possible on high tides and a 4WD is highly recommended.

18th May 2009 SOUTH ALLIGATOR The South Alligator River is situated on the Arnhem Highway approximately 220km from Darwin.  It is a shallow, tidal river with mudflats being the main obstruction.  The river can be hazerdous on large tides with the combination of strong currents and unexpected sandbanks. The South Alligator River is most popular during the run-off as the waters drop below the floodplains.  There are many creek mouths and rockbars that hold big barra on the right tides. There is a public boat ramp giving access.  Just across the highway is the Auraora Kakadu tourist park.
