Boab Boat Hire is now offering boat license courses at various locations, with the aim of rolling out more locations in the near future. The 'start power boating' course is ideal to those that are new to handling a power boat, however offers just as much to those who have also been around boats before and are looking to obtain their boat license.

All training offered by Boab Powerboat Training Centres is conducted under the auspices of Yachting Australia and is made up of two parts:

1. The first comprises reading material and an interactive DVD, which can be done at home.
2. The second part is an on the water, practical session where participants learn how to drive a boat, from basic manoeuvres to more advanced skills such as emergency stops and man overboard procedures.

We limit our courses to 4 persons to allow each participant the maximum time possible on the helm and the best possible learning environment, which will ultimately give you the skills and confidence required to handle a power boat in a safe manner.

At the successful completion of the course, participants receive a certificate from Yachting Australia that enables them to receive their Recreational Boating Licence with no further examinations and no need to keep an ongoing log book that has to be signed off to verify experience gained.

Due to the one on one learning environment and the extra time our instructors can give each person, our course has become extremely popular with a diverse range of people and groups. From school children, groups of ladies and those that have an emphasis for learning the practical side of boating, which let's face it, is probably the single most important aspect when it comes to driving a power boat.
