Boab opened its first operation in Wollongong in 2004 and at present there are Franchises located in NSW, QLD, VIC, WA and NT. We are an 100% Australian owned company with our Head Office located in the Illawarra of NSW.
In 2011/2012 our expansion plans will see Boab Franchises in operation Australia Wide. Our vision is to have locations in every holiday destination around the country. Our mission is to be the best and most widely recognised recreational boat hire company in Australia.
We have created an operating system that makes it easy for people with no boating or business experience to suceed as a Franchise Owner. Our training covers operational set-up, licencing, day to day management, customer relations techniques and marketing programs. |

Hi, my name is John Lane and after 20 years in the financial advisory industry my wife and I retired and spent 18 months travelling around Australia in a caravan before putting down roots in the seaside town of Kiama.

 | After years spent working as an accountant for major corporations, I really needed a change. I was sick of working at a desk and it was my desire to combine lifestyle and business that lead me to Boab.
After seeing them at a major boat show, I decided to enquire. Having looked very closely at a number of alternative business options prior to this, I was impressed by Boab's professionalism and their willingness to assist me from the very start. Not only did they offer a great product, they really made it easy for me to make the transition into running my own business.
The Boab lifestyle is diverse and interesting. Each day brings new challenges from towing boats to on water safety briefings to changing props and maintaining the equipment.
One of the main points of satisfaction for me is the continuing customer interaction, and the smiles on people's faces when the boat is launched and they first set out on the water.

 | G'day my name is Scott Stevens. I have always loved the outdoors and being on the water so when I heard about Boab I was curious to find out more.
When I looked into it, I realised I could combine my love of the outdoors with boat ownership, being my own boss and making a living at the same time!
My wife Sandra agreed that it was a good move and now we run the business together. We have a very solid repeat customer base and are actively marketing to attract new hirers all the time.
I thoroughly enjoy the lifestyle benefits not to mention the decent return we get. We were the first franchise to commence operating and since joining we haven't looked back.

 | My husband Sean had for many years been required to travel for work, so when the opportunity with Boab presented itself, we thought it was a real chance to have a go at a business we were both passionate about.
Not only did it allow Sean to work full time, it allowed him to be closer to our family which I felt was a very important thing in our lives.The Boab business is able to be run from home, in which we both take an active role - Sean runs the boats and I run the office and pre-hire arrangements. The internet booking system is easy to use and the operation as a whole is a relatively simple process.
We both enjoy marketing our territory and really appreciate the lifestyle that comes with our business, in other words, we try to get out on the water as much as possible in between hires!
